Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you use BowlsTV.com. BowlsTV.com is operated by Potter's Leisure Ltd, trading as Potters Resorts ("we", "us", "our"), registered in England and Wales under company number 00453567, with its registered office at Hebblethwaites, 2 Westbrook Court, Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S11 8YZ. Potter's Leisure Ltd is the data controller for this website. For anything to do with your personal information, please email us at data.protection@pottersholidays.com, or Potters Resorts, Coast Road, Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk, NR31 9BX.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers BowlsTV.com, the home of the Ambassador Cruise Line2027 World Indoor Bowls Championships, held at Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea in partnership with the World Bowls Tour and title sponsor Ambassador Cruise Line.
It also covers information we collect at Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea during the Championships, where that information is linked to this website or to the mailing list you have joined here.
It does not cover:
- Holiday bookings with Potters Resorts. The Potters Resorts website has its own privacy policy, which applies when you book a break.
- The World Bowls Tour and Ambassador Cruise Line websites. Each has its own privacy notice, and these apply when you visit them, including when you follow a link from here.
- What Ambassador Cruise Line does with your information once we have passed it on. Section 5 explains when this happens and what it means for you.
3. The information we collect
We collect only what we need, and most of it you give us yourself.
When you register for tournament updates, we collect your email address and your name, if the form asks for it.
When you enter a competition, we collect your name and email address, along with anything else the entry form asks for. Some competitions ask a question or invite you to tick a box for additional entries. We record your answer and whether you ticked it.
When you visit the site, we automatically collect your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using, the pages you look at, how long you spend on them and how you arrived, such as from an email, a search engine or a social media post. Where cookies are involved, ourcookie policy explains this.
When we send you an email, we record whether you opened it and which links you clicked.
When you come to the Championships at Hopton-on-Sea, we may collect your name and email address if you enter a competition on site or sign up to receive merchandise. We will tell you at the time what you are signing up to.
We do not ask for, and have no need of, your date of birth, financial details or any information about your health. We may invite registered subscribers to tell us their postcode and age range, but only by a separate email after registration, and only if they choose to answer.
4. Why we use your information
Data protection law requires us to have a proper reason, called a lawful basis, for everything we do with your information. Here is ours, purpose by purpose.
| What we do | Why | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send you updates about the Championships — when matches are streamed, when tickets go on sale, when schedules and players are announced | Because you asked us to | Consent |
| Send you offers from Potters Resorts | To tell you about breaks and Bowls Breaks you may be interested in | Consent |
| Send you offers from Ambassador Cruise Line, or pass your details to Ambassador so they can | Because you agreed to hear from the tournament's title sponsor | Consent |
| Run competitions, pick winners and award prizes | To operate the competition you entered | Performance of a contract with you, under the competition terms |
| Measure how our emails and campaigns perform | To send fewer and better emails, and to understand which activity works | Legitimate interests — running our marketing efficiently |
| Keep the website working, secure and free from abuse | To protect the site and the people using it | Legitimate interests — security |
| Keep records of consent, and of complaints or requests | To show we have handled your information properly | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is outweighed by the effect on you, and concluded it is not. You can object to any of it, and section 11 explains how.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
5. Who we share your information with
We never sell your information. We share it in three situations, set out in full below.
Ambassador Cruise Line
If you agree to receive offers from Ambassador Cruise Line, we pass your name and email address to them so they can send them to you directly.
We send these details monthly, using a secure transfer method agreed between the two companies. Once Ambassador holds your details, Ambassador decides how to use them and is responsible for them in its own right. Its privacy notice, atwww.ambassadorcruiseline.com/information/privacy-and-cookie-policy/, explains what it does with them and how to contact it.
This matters in one practical way. If you later ask us to stop, we will stop, and we will tell Ambassador. But because Ambassador holds its own copy, you may also wish to unsubscribe from its emails directly, using the link at the foot of any message it sends you. If you do not agree to hear from Ambassador, we do not pass your details on.
The World Bowls Tour
We send tournament updates on the World Bowls Tour's behalf, from Potters Resorts. This means the World Bowls Tour does not receive your details.
Emails we send for Ambassador Cruise Line
From time to time we send an email to our own subscribers carrying an offer from Ambassador Cruise Line. These come from Potters Resorts, not from Ambassador. Your details are not shared for these sends, and we report only how many people opened the email and clicked its links.
Companies that work for us
We use other companies to provide the services this website depends on. They act on our instructions, may only use your information to do the job we have given them, and may not use it for their own purposes. They are:
- ActiveCampaign, which sends our emails and holds our mailing list
- WebHosting UK, which hosts BowlsTV.com
- Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used
- Youtube, which streams the matches
When the law requires it
We may share information if the law obliges us to, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Advertising cookies
If you accept marketing cookies, the World Bowls Tour and Ambassador Cruise Line can record that you visited this website and show you advertising elsewhere. This is separate from anything above, involves no name or email address, and is covered in our cookie policy.
6. Competitions
When you enter one of our competitions, we use your details to run it: to check your entry is valid, to draw the winner and to let you know the result.
Entering a competition does not sign you up to marketing. If the entry form invites you to receive offers from Potters Resorts or Ambassador Cruise Line, that is a separate choice, and you can enter without making it.
Some competitions offer additional entries in return for signing up. Where they do, we will say so clearly on the form, and you remain free to enter without taking it up.
If you win, we may need to publish your first name and county, as the competition terms require. We will tell you before we do.
Each competition has its own terms, which sit alongside this policy.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep your information only as long as we need it, and no longer.
| What | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your mailing list details, while you remain subscribed | Until you unsubscribe, or after 36 months without opening any of our emails, whichever comes first |
| Your details after you unsubscribe | We keep your email address on a suppression list indefinitely, so that we do not contact you again by mistake. We keep nothing else. |
| Competition entries, where you did not win | 12 months after the competition closes |
| Winners' details | 7 years, for our accounting records |
| Records of your consent, and of any request you make to us | 6 years |
| Website statistics | 26 months |
The New Era registration page will be redirected to this website by the end of February 2027. Registrations made through it are held on the same basis as those made here.
8. Where your information is held
Your information is held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area wherever possible.
Some of the companies that work for us are based outside the UK, or use servers that are. Where your information goes to a country the UK has not judged to offer equivalent protection, we put an approved safeguard in place first, normally the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
You can ask us for details of any transfer that affects you, using the contact details in section 1.
9. Keeping your information secure
We take sensible steps to protect your information, including encrypting it in transit, limiting access to staff who need it for their work, and requiring the companies that work for us to do the same.
Where we transfer records to Ambassador Cruise Line, we use a secure method agreed in advance between the two companies. We do not send personal information by ordinary email attachment.
No website can promise perfect security. If something does go wrong and there is a risk to you, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
10. Marketing, and how to stop it
Every marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link at the foot. One click is all it takes, and you do not need to give a reason or sign in to anything.
Because Potters Resorts and Ambassador Cruise Line send their own emails, there are two separate things you may want to stop.
| To stop | Do this |
|---|---|
| Tournament updates and offers from Potters Resorts | Use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or write to us using the details in section 1 |
| Offers from Ambassador Cruise Line | Use the unsubscribe link in any Ambassador email. You can also tell us, and we will pass your request on. |
If you ask us to stop everything, we will, and we will let Ambassador Cruise Line know. Ambassador holds its own copy of your details, so unsubscribing from its emails directly is the fastest way to stop them.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop us replying to a question you have asked us.
11. Your rights
You have the following rights over your information. They are free to use, and we will respond within one month.
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Access | Ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you |
| Correction | Ask us to correct anything wrong or incomplete |
| Erasure | Ask us to delete your information, where we have no good reason to keep it |
| Restriction | Ask us to pause our use of your information while a query is sorted out |
| Objection | Object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests. Where we use it for direct marketing, you can object at any time and we must stop. |
| Portability | Ask us to send the information you gave us to you, or to another organisation, in a usable format |
| Withdraw consent | Withdraw your consent at any time, for anything we do on that basis |
To use any of these, write to us at data.protection@pottersholidays.com, or Potters Resorts, Coast Road, Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk, NR31 9BX. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, to make sure we do not send your information to the wrong person.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to us does not affect your right to complain to them.
12. Cookies
This website uses cookies, and our cookie policy explains which ones, what they do and how to change your choice at any time.
If you accept marketing cookies, the World Bowls Tour and Ambassador Cruise Line can place their own cookies here and use them to show you advertising elsewhere. You do not need to accept any cookies to watch the bowls.
13. Age
BowlsTV.com is intended for adults. You must be 18 or over to register for updates or to enter a competition.
We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, please tell us and we will delete them.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website develops, particularly in the run-up to and during the Championships in January 2027. Any changes will appear on this page.
Where a change affects what we collect, what we use it for, or who we share it with, we will tell subscribers by email and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again rather than assume your earlier choice still stands.
Version 1.0. Last updated 5th October 2026.
